The sun shone over head. The sky was a pale blue and a few light, feathery clouds drifted across it. The trees left shadows and Emily was careful to walk in them. She liked the sun but wasn't it's biggest fan and the shade was nice and cool.
The smell off the horses was exceptionally strong this afternoon, probably to do with the heat but Emily kept her smooth striding walk moving untill she got to the paddock fence. She wasn't exactly dressed for riding, or even being around horses. With her red and black checkered mini skirt, white top and thin black cloth scarf. Her thin pump-like shoes would offer no protection against a horses hard, metal shoes. But she never planned to do anything more then just admire these magnificent animals.
Strange for her to be down here but she found in quiet, peaceful and didn't normally get many students out here. Unless they were riding or grooming, or something else to do with these big creatures which wandered slowly over to where the strange new girl stood. Emily, in all honesty, had no interest in horses at all. She just found them magnificent and found them a sort of 'therapy', if you will, when she felt she needed to relax. After all, a horse couldn't tell anyone anything she told it.
She brushed a strand of straightened, bright pink and blonde hair behind her ear. Not unusal for her to have her hair down and straightened. As she brushed it behind her ear she was careful to make sure she didn't smudge her eyeliner, or mascara. Then slowly she reached forward and let the big brown-coloured horse, that had wandered over, sniff her hand and then she stroked down it's face. It dipped it's head as she stroked down it's neck with carefully, manacured nails. Which were painted in a dark shade of red to match her outfit.
She looked deep into the hazel eyes of the horse. As much as the smell did disgust her, there was something amazing about these creatures. Like the understood you, even though that was impossible. How could a horse understand a human? All they knew was to do as a human said and in return got cared for, and above all else, fed.
This thought made Emily laugh a little. First time she'd laughed since arriving. She patted the big horse and folded her arms on the top rail of the fence, putting her head into them. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Feeling a warm muzzle nudge her hair and arms, asking for more attention. "Oi." she said, looking up. "You'll ruin my hair" she reached out and patted the horse again. Who snorted and dipped his head to nibble at the grass.
How strange it probably looked to see this pale, skinny girl and great big horse. Stood with only a fence between them and without even talking seeming to relax and understand each other. Emily reached up to sort out her hair, "Now i definatly need a shower when i get back to my dorm" she sighed "thanks a lot" she grumbled but gave a small laugh as the horse looked at her and just nudged her again.
She gave a weak little smile. She seemed to have forgotten how to laugh, and smile, since she got here. She had a lot on her mind right now and was glad of the peace and quiet of the sunny afternoon. It never would accure to anyone to come here, so she was very much hidden from anyone and thing, except the horses of course. Which she liked. Of course other students knew how to get her, just why would any of them happy, friendly, bunch want to come here? She laughed again, more evil this time. If only they knew about her, then maybe they wouldn't be so happy and cheerful.
